Mekios limited has been exploring and developing the mining sector in Nigeria since 2002. The company has a number of licenses throughout the country including the flagship Bishewa property in Kwara State. Mekios also developed a trading arm that has obtained minerals (including gold and tantalite) from its license areas and other sources for processing and sale to countries such as Kazakhstan and China. The resultant cash flows were used in developing its mineral properties.

Treseca Limited and Mekios formed a joint venture in 2013/2014, formalizing all operations under the purview of Treseca whilst licenses remain in Mekios. Treseca has also developed the Nigerian mineral sector, through the representation of Mining Equipment manufacturers and providing consultancy services to burgeoning and established mineral companies, financial firms and some diplomatic missions within Nigeria.

The JV team have been developing exploration activities focused on the application of a blend of international best practices and proven local methodology on the Mekios concessions. In 2014 exploration processes were enhanced with light mechanization applying smal scale machinery to fieldwork, while 2015 has seen the acquisition of small scale mining equipment for installation in 2016.
